A kosher appetizer that will shine as the star of any celebration or party!!
A fun new way to entertain. These are not your old boring starters.
They are inspired by Suzanne Goin who put these on the map at her LA restaurant A.O.C. I have made a Kosher version by substituting macon or turkey bacon.
They make the most incredible appetizers and are perfect with a cocktail. The dates become syrupy from grilling them and the turkey bacon gets all crispy and golden brown.
Guests go crazy for the little parcels of salted candy.
So you might need to triple the recipe. They are sublime. L’chaim

Macon Wrapped Dates
Ingredients
- 24 large dates, pitted
- 24 x 3 inch strips thinly sliced Koshermacon/turkey bacon
- Italian parsley to garnish
Instructions
Preheat the oven to 400°F / 200 C
Using a small paring knife, cut a small slit across the length of each date and remove the pit.
Lay the strips of macon out on a workspace, next to each other.
Place each date one by one, at the end of a strip of macon.
Carefully roll the date along the macon strip, wrapping it tightly.
Place the macon-wrapped dates on a roasting rack set in a baking sheet, and roast for 10-15 minutes, until golden brown and crispy on the outside.
Arrange the dates in a bowl with the parsley leaves and some toothpicks.
